[2025.08] Project 1773 Shiblov-class Light Cruiser
Medium-sized combatants of the Shibeviet Space Fleet, Shiblov-class light cruisers are the approximate equivalents to the Flight I and II Radostnyy-class destroyers of the Imperial Fleet.
Mounting an impressive battery of turreted pulse-width-modulation capable lasers and combining relatively powerful search and PESA fire control radars with an advanced battle-management system and fairly modern arm-launched 4K38M2U "Cyclone" air-defense systems and a robust array of heavy anti-shipping missiles, Shiblov-class ships are as equally capable of screening the Union's capital ship fleets as hunting down merchant traffic or harassing enemy fleets.
As with most ships mounting arm-launched defensive missiles, the Shiblov-class remains vulnerable to being overwhelmed by large salvoes of cruise missiles or heavy kinetic projectiles.
The third of the ships constructed for the universe of my various writing projects. The aesthetics really do click on this one, and I consider this among one of my favorites so far.
