Snootie wouldn't be snootie if he wasn't a little bit of a snob sometimes! It might even be part of why he is the way he is, maybe the universe giving him a bit of a lesson in humility, with giving him such a prominent nose, a trait that is generally seen to be quite awkward.
Hence, given snootie's sometimes not great qualities, he can make offhand comments that can be hurtful, which he generally can't see the fault in.
This sort of attitude can sometimes be bit.... problematic, in ways that are not always expcted
Some friends don't really pay much mind to it, as the comments he makes can be somewhat harmless. Some others though ... might not be so understanding
