To start things off, I decided to share a pic of myself from back in October 2010. Remember from my Journal how I mentioned I went to my first Comic Convention? Well, that happened to be New York Comic Con 5! I paid $500 for the VIP pass and it got me into rest areas as well as back-stage privileges. That Saturday Morning, while underground awaiting the convention to open--or rather, my turn to get in a half hour early before everyone else--I happened to come across the real Spiderman...
Tobey Maguire's Stunt Double!!
He was a real nice guy and yes, that outfit he was wearing underneath regular clothes was the one used during filming. He'd spent the first day of Comic Con hanging out with Stan Lee, taking pictures and promotional materials with the man himself and was kind enough to share his pics and tell me about the man I was prepared to meet later that day as well as tell me stories from the set... which I promised I would not share, but let's just say he and others wished Bruce Campbell got a larger role.
It was interesting to see how that mask came off, and I was pleased to see that the stunt double was an African-American gentleman... who liked the chocolate-covered potato-chips I brought with me.
I like to think it was this guy that inspired Marvel's decisions for the current Spiderman under the Ultimate title. My only regret is I can't remember the guy's name but his comment, "I had to do this! White men can't jump!"
Let's just hope he stayed off of Broadway. He WAS in New York...

Again Happy BD dude.
Oh, and here's a trivia bite for you if you didn't know it. I read If Chins Could Kill, Bruce's auto-biography, a few years back and as you may or may not know Sam Raimi and Bruce are each others' best friends. Sam promised Bruce on the set of the original Evil Dead that if he wanted it(them), Bruce would have a role in any film that he did afterwards. [That's why Bruce was killed by the apes in the beginng of Congo, was the final face of Darkman in the film, as well as a lot of other films that Sam has done including the Spider-Man films.]
