WEll lava in theroy isnt as hot as plasma, lava is only melted rocks and minerals. Plasma, in this case super heated gases from the melta gun as easily a thousand fold hotter then the lava and also traveling muhc faster on a subatomic level. Therefore the necron is literally ripped apart ripped apart and then reconfigured as melted what ever metal he's made of.
