The cool, Autumn air was crisp and refreshing, contrasting with the pleasant warmth of the early evening sun. The days were growing shorter, the sky was already alight with the brilliant hues of red and gold as the sun drew ever closer to the horizon. The trees were painted with beautiful strokes of mottled reds, oranges and yellows, the branches preparing to shed their leaves in anticipation of winter’s approach. Fallen leaves, more alive than ever as they danced in the breeze, tumbled lightly towards the ground. Woodland creatures rummaged through the layer of fallen leaves, searching for any last morsels of food to secret away before the coming frost. A handful of pumpkins lay scattered about the clearing, perhaps planted and forgotten any number of years ago, but continuing to endure all the same. A squirrel dropped the acorn that had been its prize to clamber onto one of the pumpkins, gnawing inquisitively at the tough flesh of the gourd, adding to the scars the pumpkin already bore. It’s ears perked and it bolted upright at the sound of rustling and the crunching of leaves; footsteps leading towards the clearing. The sudden appearance of the canine sent the squirrel scrambling from it’s pumpkin perch, rescuing it’s acorn as it beat a hasty retreat from the canine; the spirit that haunted these woods. The fae coyote though did not have eyes for the squirrel, or any other foraging woodland creature for that matter. She was content to simply lounge in the sun and to watch the ballet of leaves in the wind. The squirrel could be forgiven for it’s hasty, though unnecessary departure; squirrels are not known for their manners, after all.

Enjoying a shower of bright gold and red leaves in the light autumn breeze while comfortably lying with the upper part of the body on a mature pumpkin and the lower part on the grass still soft for the season; it's a typical irresistible pastime for the graceful fae coyote, Miss Fiadh. I think the frightened squirrel will soon realize that they are in no danger near the canine creature, who only wants to enjoy that breathtaking ballet of leaves in the wind. It is not to be excluded that we might be surprised to see the two together one day, watching the autumnal spectacle offered by Mother Nature. 🍂🐿️🎃🍁
