Someone mushroom mined my place too, they really will grow on anything.
Its like an in-game virus.... "I'm sorry sir, your house has contracted mushrooms."
And no matter how hard you look, if you miss even one, and chances are that you will 'cos the buggers can spawn in places you cant get to, it'll start all over again.

My mate and I run our own private minecraft server and we don't plant mushrooms at all.. But we found a cavern that had over 300 mushrooms in it, all grown naturally. We're pretty sure it was one that was there from the begining of the game, just growing mushrooms non stop while we played. lol.
