It's probably not sketches; just perception in general. One of the major keys in humans being so progressive is that, almost no matter what they do, they're never proud of their work. They may admire it for a few minutes after it's done, but the more they see it, the older it gets, and eventually they say "My God, how did I think that was good?"

Big tool in just what makes us humans strive for greatness our entire lives. =P So, try not to be harsh on y'self. The improvement to onlookers is very obvious. :3
