RIP June Lockhart
One of the last golden age of Hollywood actors passed away at the age of 100. June Lockhart was known best as "America's Mom" due to her roles in various TV shows. Starting with 'Lassie', then 'Lost in Space'and 'Pettycoat Junction'. Her film career was equally long. She acted as late as 2021.
On a personal note, I met her at Gencon 1998, She was just standing there alone and I approached her, somewhat curiously asking "You're June Lockhart aren't you?" She smiled acknowledged my question and I immediately said "Because of you, I got into owning a collie, especially as a kid!" And for the next half hour, we discussed collies and other dog breeds. I Then asked her what it was like to co-star with Gary Cooper in the 1941 film Sgt York. She smiled more that I commented positively as her role as Rosie York, Alvin's little sister. She told me how Gary was an utmost gentleman as well. Plus discussed some of her other film roles like 'A Christmas Carol'(1938), 'Meet me in St. Louis', 'White Cliffs of Dover', 'Deadly Games'. I regretted not getting her autograph nor getting a picture of her. But as my late friend, Actor Lee Marvin taught me, treat a celebrity as a person, not a star, and you will go far in your interaction with them.
June was certainly a classy lady who lead a great life.

I never knew the same actress was in both Lassie and Lost in Space, or that you had met her. I can tell from first glance how heartfelt this tribute is.
My own favourite Lassie moment (I hope furs with mountain lion fursonas won't be offended)
