I had the pleasure of creating Hecate, the Greek goddess of magic, as an anthropomorphic hybrid of dog, lion, and horse. I read the fantastic Percy Jackson novel "Wrath of the Triple Goddess" by Rick Riordan and was inspired by it, as the goddess appeared before Percy Jackson with, among other things, three animal heads (dog, lioness, and horse). This inspired me to create her as an anthropomorphic hybrid of the three animals. She carries a torch and a snake, which are considered her attributes, and I also placed a bat and a dog at her side, as these animals are also associated with Hecate.
Mythology (as I know it)
Hecate is a goddess from Greek mythology, considered the mistress of magic, witchcraft, and necromancy (the calling of the dead). She is also a guardian of crossroads, thresholds, and transitions, as well as the gates between the worlds of the living and the dead. She is often depicted as a three-faced goddess and associated with torches, keys, and the moon. Hecate is the daughter of the Titans Perses and Asteria. Hecate is considered one of the most powerful goddesses of magic and witchcraft.
In ancient Greek myths, there are various interpretations of her children:
Circe - In some versions, the sorceress Circe is described as the daughter of Hecate.
Scylla - According to Hesiod and other sources, the parents of the monster Scylla are either Hecate and Apollo or Hecate and Phorcys.
Astraeus, Eurus, and Boreas - In another interpretation, Hecate fathered three children with Eurybia: Astraeus (the stars), Eurus (the east wind), and Boreas (the north wind).
She also has several other children, such as the Empuses (female ghosts).
