How rude, playing with his food like that.
In my universe Naga are pretty much like the Romans but they engage in a lifestyle of conquest, violence, excess and debauchery that would make the most lewd Romans squirm in discomfort. They're basically the douche bags of the world.
Sketched this yesterday, toned it this morning :3

In regards to Slyth's comment and your reply to it: I figured that the patch around his hips/waist/transition from upper to lower bodies was indeed just scales, but appear more pronounced in this picture because they're meant to show how his scales begin there. Such a distinction is needed there because it _appears_ (to me, anyway) that although his scales stop at his 'waist', his patterning/colouration continues up onto his human flesh/torso.
That is.. if you hadn't illustrated the break-up of the scales to make way for the flesh, the viewer, upon seeing the continuing patterning with no break in the smooth hide of the coils, might have assumed that his scales just continued all the way up, covering his whole body.
Anyway, in general: I love this piece! :D Part of what I love about snakes is their flexibility, so something like this that shows that off so prominently and casually (that is, it appears to be quite natural and easy for him to make that 'loop-de-loop', as it were).. is all kinds of awesome. Also, I enjoy the patterning/colouration that continues upwards onto his torso.. as well as the few serpentine features on his head/face.
And, of course, the coils are really REALLY well done.

Thank you so much for that comment :D
The whole reason for this picture in the first place was because of that flexibility you mentioned. I wanted to draw something like that and a naga fit the bill. I've always imagined them to view having a spine as more of a suggestion than an anatomical fact xD
Again thanks for the comment!

You're welcome, twice over! :>
I noticed after I wrote my comment, that you had said on your profile/front page that you love flexible types, so it was all the more clear as to why you did this one.
I wonder if you'll end up going for some kind of invertebrate person next, like a slug.. or is flexibility only impressive when there actually is a skeleton to defy?
Oh, and as nicely flexible as snakes are, I think eels might show it off all the better in their normal day-to-day activities.

Eels huh? o.o You know I have been thinking about coming up with some underwater creatures to throw into my little world. I was going to go with the generic mermaid but eels sound FAR more interesting :D Thanks for the suggestion!
And yes I'd rather there be a skeleton involved. I like showing just how far the anatomy can be pushed. Might go into some more crazy contortionist stuff with my work soon.

You're welcome once more. :>
I almost said sharks, too! (which would seem to be personally related to me, thanks to my sharky icon, but I'm actually normally sporting a more naga-centric look :}===< )
Speaking of crazy contortionist art.. did you ever see that Yuni/Jahi guy's (or gal's) art?
