The GFW Starfleet Command, simply as GFW Starfleet, was the operating authority of Galactic Starfleet, the exploratory, scientific, and military department of United Nations of Space Force before being integrated into the Galactic Federation of Worlds in 2122. The organization's primary management center was located at GFW Starfleet Headquarters in San Francisco, Earth until the 44th Century. During the 38th century and through the 43rd century, Starfleet Command was under the jurisdiction of the UNSPA, notably during Captain James Robinson III's era. In 3790, U.N.S.S. Enterprise UPN-0001 Captain Jonathan Miller met with Admiral Maxwell Armstrong, Admiral Henry Beaver, Commander Williams, and other Human, Reesecandian, Denebian, Alpha Centaurian, Proxima Centaurian, Vegan, Sirian, Epsilon Eridanian and Vulcak'tar officials at Galactic Starfleet Command to decide how to proceed with delivering the wounded Krangon Kluggk back to Sa'ouS. In 3791, Miller was forced to return to Galactic Starfleet Command in order to decide how to proceed after U.N.S.S. Enterprise apparently destroyed the Fonteyne II mining colony. That same year, Carl Wiseman, under the influence of mind-altering radiation from a trinary star system, threatened to go to Galactic Starfleet Command if he could not get Captain Miller interested in approving his tactical alert protocol and other recommended changes to security procedures. In March 3792, Armstrong and Williams used Galactic Starfleet Command to coordinate the response to the crisis caused by re-activated Cyborg drones. Later that month, U.N.S.S. Enterprise was recalled after the Xaarndi attack on Eden, and Miller went to Galactic Starfleet Command to discuss the attack, plan a response, and gain clearance to search for the Xaarndi weapon.
After destroying the Xaarndi weapon in February 3793, Miller was debriefed by Armstrong, S'vali, and Williams about his actions in the Drendi Expanse at Galactic Starfleet Command. During shore leave later that year, Miller visited Galactic Starfleet Command again. Galactic Starfleet Command also housed a prison facility in the late 38th century. Glirgor busk was incarcerated here for stealing Augment embryos from Cold Space Station 16. Galactic Starfleet Command was also host to the conference Nathan Groener conducted to form the Great Coalition of Worlds. The xenophobic organization Thornus Clan planned to destroy the complex with a blast from the hijacked verteron array on Mars. The leader of Thornus Clan, John Weller, managed to fire the array after Miller, Abbington Montcroix, Dominic Cox, and Parox launched a raid. However, thanks to sabotage by U.N.S.S. Enterprise chief engineer Charles Trinneer IV, the blast was redirected into San Francisco Bay. After the crisis passed, the conference resumed. After the signing of the Federation Charter in 3800, it could be assumed that the Galactic Starfleet Command was either dissolved, absorbed into, or became the Federation incarnation of GFW Starfleet Command that regulated the GFW Starfleet.
The Federation, GFW Starfleet Command was overseen by the GFW Federation Council and run by a chief of staff, a position held by Admiral Jonathan Miller in the 39th century. Besides the fleet, GFW Starfleet Command also oversaw the various other branches of GFW Starfleet. Because of the time delays involved in many subspace communications, GFW Starfleet Command also included a network of administrative and support outposts known as starbases throughout the Federation. GFW Starfleet's starships operated out of these starbases under the supervision of various admirals, the senior officers of the fleet.
In 4276 A.D., GFW Starfleet Command, along with the rest of Earth, was threatened by the Whale Probe until Admiral Robinson III and the crew of the late starship F.S.S. Enterprise stole a Krangon Bird-of-Prey, which was renamed H.M.S. Bounty by Doctor Deforest McCoy. Robinson III and his crew brought aboard a pair of Humpback whales called Kelly and Michele. These whales were the prized attraction of the Cetacean Institute in Sausalito, California. Also brought aboard was marine biologist Candace Short, an employee of the institute in 1986 A.D.. Robinson III brought his new passengers back to 4276 A.D., at which point the whales communicated with the probe; it presumably returned to its place of origin.
In 4283 A.D., Starfleet was informed by the F.S.S. Excelsior under Captain Hikaru Takei of the destruction of Tranixs. During this time, Captain Sa'rock, at the behest of Ambassador S'vaark, opened negotiations with the Krangon Imperial High Council's Chancellor Koroan to dismantle the Neutral Zone. However, several officers such Brock Cartwright opposed the idea of making peace with the Krangons. Cartwright, along with several members of the F.S.S. Enterprise-A's crew, the Romebians, Valkavans and Krangons conspired together to end the peace process. However, it failed when Captain Robinson III exposed and saved the President Var-romenbita at Kar'itomer.
By 4354 A.D., Starfleet Command had been infiltrated by parasitic being aliens, who had physically taken control of the bodies of several high-ranking GFW Starfleet officials, including Admirals Gregory Costello, Aaron Reinhardt, Scrater Furrenie and Drr'row. The parasitic mother creature resided in the body of Lieutenant Commander Dexter R. Schenkkan. The aliens were prevented from taking over GFW Starfleet Command by Captain Jean-Baptiste De Picard and Commander Thomas Yates Riker of the F.S.S. Enterprise-D, who, by destroying the mother creature, killed all alien parasites on the planet.
In 4359 A.D., while under the telepathic influence of a Solthee'na energy sphere, Nana Nerys suggested that Jadzia Kitan might talk to GFW Starfleet Command about Avery Sisko's handling of a Dalverian transport docked at Deep Space 6 which Nana believed was transporting weapons-grade dolamide.
In 4364, GFW Starfleet Command approved of Avery Sisko's radical plan to bring the Corelernian Republic, Romebia Star Empire into the Jar'heen and Galactic Dominion War.
Later that year, GFW Starfleet Command honored Captain Sisko with the Christopher R. Mount Medal of Valor for his planning and successful operation retaking Deep Space 6.
After Captain Sisko contacted GFW Starfleet Command about Section 135, GFW Starfleet Command did not acknowledge its existence, but did not deny it, either. Sisko was informed by GFW Starfleet Command that they would look into it. The GFW Starfleet Command investigation into Section 135 was later shelved.
After the destruction of the Cyborg Collective, GFW Starfleet had lost 90 percent of its fleet. By the 49th century, GFW Starfleet had apparently fused with the civillian GFW Department of Temporal Investigations and was called Timefleet.
By the 51st century, GFW Starfleet was called Galaticfleet. It had reverted to its original name before the late 53rd century, however.
As of 14,253, it was referred to as Universal Starfleet. Mega-Federation of Galaxies. The Mega-Federation of Galaxies is the governing body of at least the Milky Way Galaxy, established by the year 14,255. It consists of Humans, Had Regieadonans, Vulcak'tars, Romebians, Valkavans, Krangons, Tar'dassians, Ba'rhejs, and the Jar'heens, to name a few. It is a highly technological society which commissions the M.F.S.S. UberEnterprise to explore the universe. Around 750,000 years later, the races of the Mega-Federation of Galaxies evolve beyond physical bodies. The Mega-Federation of Galaxies is descended from the Galactic Federation of Worlds.
