Another great chapter, though part of me wished we got one more flashback little scene just to end the chapter as it started. Not sure quite where your going with introducing the first day now. It makes me curious how else it's effects will linger in the story.
I do admit that I would have thought that the first day would have gained some kind of unique name as time trudged forward. Like The Change of something, idk.

Geez that is some judgement day horror. So if everyone was simultaneously transforming on the same day what is the infection rate? 1/10000? given the amount of characters introduced through the books the infection rate it seems like it is way higher. That means millions were transformed in the beginning days, that's dozens of airplane crashes, tens of thousands of car accidents, and world/military leaders missing. There could even be an astronaut that turns into a panicked feral mountain lion trapped with the crew in orbit for all we know. How is the world still functioning?
