LiveStream Cameras Rig
People always ask about how I have my livestream setup, and I've flashed this photo around for a bit but never uploaded it. So here it is.
The camera is a Logitech HD Pro C910 that was gifted to me by the amazingly awesome
karmakat I used a Microsoft Lifecam HD-5000 before that. The camera is taped to the lamp I use for light and I have USB extender cables attached to it so I can string it from my computer to my little drawing desk.
The lamp is not mounted on the little black desk (An Ikea laptop desk called Dave, no really, it is!) but instead it is mounted on my computer desk since that's a larger and much more stable surface. The lamp is also an Ikea item, a desk lamp called Terital I think. I used lamps from Office Depot and Staples that were twice the cost and that would crumple and fold under the weight of the camera and the LED bulb I use. (
fossil warned me that florescent lights aren't healthy long term, and since I sit under this thing for sometimes eight hours at a time I felt I should definitely go for something healthier.
Now look in envy at my copic bin! MUAHAHAAH!

How is the focus for the camera? How does it pick up on pencil lines? I have had trouble finding a good camera that would let fans see what I'm drawing very well. Then the stream chunks it into a tiny picture that is hard to see anyways.
Tips? Suggestions? The only way I can get a decent pic is to use the Cintiq, which is awesome, but I like traditional art more.

A lot of the HD camera out there have zoom and focus capabilities as well as tweaks to let you boost the contrast to make colors a little more visible. Just as an example I pencil in non photo blue and with some tweaks I can get it to show up. The logitech I use works wonders, and the Lifecam before that was very nice as well.
I use a WIN7 system along with the procaster client. I also should note that the webcam (both models I bought) comes with software controls so I can zoom and focus and tweak the colors. Most good webcams come with it and it really makes the work easier. (Since I do a lot of artcards that are teeny being able to zoom in helps a lot)
And please ask me anything you'd like! I love helping people set up this kind of thing. If you have some really detailed questions feel free to message me or email me at genesisw@gmail

It's one of these: http://www.hayneedle.com/sale/studi.....aftstation.cfm
I wanted to replace my old drafting table and found this one on sale. I thought it was beautiful and the price wasn't too bad, so I snarfed it up :)

Fluorescent lights are not healthy if they break - that is, if the glass breaks - because they contain mercury vapour. And mercury is Really Nasty, period. Even though the contents of the bulb may be minimal (~5mg for a desk lamp bulb), it can still affect your health for several weeks.
It's not so much that flourescents aren't healthy, it's moreso that the light's just not as good from 'em, and I know at least that mine generate a LOT of heat... whereas LED lamps run cooler and brighter, with a purer light.
Aside from that-- loving the lamp setup.
