Ecco now long gone from their lives. While the two men that were saved by her ended up where they wanted to go. One couldn't return to normal life. Namely Luke who had spent a long time getting intimately close to Ecco, and who knows if he was talking with her. That said he felt a longing... discussed it with his friend John and towards the end of it.
Luke "I can't stop thinking of her"
John "Why don't you go find her then." He said more in tease than meaning it.
Luke "... I think I will"

Leaving the bar that he and his friend was at, He did some research and tried finding the whale by research there was some trail she left right. regardless he got a ticket on a plane that was flying nearby where they met, and he was taking all the avenues he could to approach it.

Reaching a cliff side he saw something breaching in the bay... But as he watched the breaching was more like the whale was coming out of the water doing some twirls in the air and then going back into the water. Nothing like any other whale. Normally whales breech and re-enter the water. So this one was on purpose having air time. Though as he observed maybe even took out his phone or other device he saw something about this whale. the lunar marking around her eye. the stars on her back like that of a galaxy... was... Was this Ecco?!

Rushing down to the beach shedding the last of the outside world he had brought with him as he approached seeing the whale stop and look his way before recognition came to her eyes. "Luke! There you are!" came the female voice he remembered and had longing dreams of hearing again. Tears in his eyes as Luke rushed to meet Ecco on the shore. she even came out of the water. Something she easily could do and she wasn't beaching herself.

Luke "I have been searching for you!" He said with heart felt longing and now fulfillment.
