The world was a broken clash of elements during the age of the Zonai. The heavenly creation of the Golden Goddesses was a fractured one- upon the herald of Demise's acquisition of the triforce of power the elements of the world fought for balance. Earth, Spirit and Life no longer understood which should take precedence without Hylia's light to guide them.
Some reached out to the sacred stones to restore balance. One such zonai was called upon to reign in Time- to compose the rythm in which time would once again flow proper. To take on this role was to sacrifice oneself to a duty kept til the end of reality, until the Golden Goddesses might return or Hylia's place as the One Above All might be reinstated. The zonai could no longer remember quite what these requirements for retirement were anymore- nor could they remember their own name. They had been a composer, they thought, or an author. What that was they did no longer knew.
