This is what is likely a 2 page spread for my new book, coming soon. It will probably be a mix of traditional and digital media in the end, but these are just rough sketches, so they are done in Painter and Photoshop.

I have had a hard time figuring out how this story was going to open, but I think I finally have a workable platform, here. A way of showing just how bad things are for our heroes, without having to resort to a lot of expositional text or illustrations to do it. This image sets up the necessary backstory, and establishes that something awful has happened. What could that be, you ask? Well, lets just say the Wallaby family isn't terribly fond of smoke.

No quotes around Willem's dialog here, because its inside his head, and there is no other text to interfere. Obviously, he's on to "Bargaining" here…
