That time again to celebrate the birthday of a fictional character, and since today is the 16th of October that means it's the birthday of Miles "Tails" Prower from Sonic the Hedgehog! For the uninitiated, Tails' debut was not on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version of Sonic 2, and that's right, there is actually a different version, but it's a completely different beast altogether. The Sega Master System saw the release of its own version of Sonic 2, which first came out in Europe and South America back on 16 October 1992, just about a month before the Mega Drive/Genesis release of the Sonic 2 we're all familiar with, and from it also spawned the Game Gear release shortly after. So yeah, Tails debuted much earlier than many people would have thought.

Anyway, I decided for this occasion to make a drawing where I do my take on him as an adult, and in here, Tails is wearing a lab coat since he is a scientist, but he wears atypical clothing. Rather than something professional-looking, Tails wears a pink t-shirt, lime-green shorts, and eco-friendly Birkenstock sandals (though sometimes he would wear slip-on shoes, and he would also bring out his glasses which he mostly wears for reading). The getup is kinda based on the clothes worn by Professor Birch from the Pokemon series, where other than his lab coat, he wears more laidback type of clothes unlike his other colleagues. Tails' pink shirt is also based on Nick Wilde wearing a shirt of that colour in the upcoming Zootopia sequel, and the sandals are inspired by an MLP fanart piece I saw that has the Mane Six as anthro ponies wearing sandals that fit their personality types, and the type of sandals Tails has is the same type worn by Fluttershy in the fanart in question, fittingly enough since both Tails and Fluttershy share similar personality traits, being cute, sweet, mild-mannered, shy and timid souls with big hearts. Speaking of which, he is showing his shyness with that pose in the drawing, that is so adorable.

A happy birthday to Tails, the best male character in the Sonic series, in my opinion, and something worth mentioning, if he were to age up in real life, by now he would be 37 years old! If you're wondering how, because my headcanon is that he worn on 16 October, 1988.
