Right off the bat. I did not draw the collar and a tie. They look stupid on this character. There are two ways to draw a fan or personal version of the character:
1) exactly as they appear in a publication or broadcast.
2) the way you wish they looked.
Hector strikes me, in a more mature, "street" version of the show, as a tough kid. A young cat who has an axe to grind, in this case with dogs in general, and really needs someone like Riff-Raff to keep him from an early grave. Sometimes made fun of for his poofy thigh fur, Hector gets into more fights than even Heathcliff. A short fuse, he rarely wants lit, Hector tends not to go anywhere alone without Wordsworth and Mungo.
Being part Siamese, most cats and dogs expect that he knows kung-fu or the feline equivalent and that makes Hector more than a little weary and irritable. Riff-Raff hates to admit it but Hector is the better fighter, more skilled than Heathcliff or Riff-Raff, though not nearly as strong or as tough.
Hector is really holding out for a shot with a girl like Cleo because he is a young cat looking to be his own boss and in his mind, having a girl at least as hot as Cleo is part of what he thinks he needs.
Like I said above I don't like the collar and tie. it looks pretty silly to me. He's a stray in a gang. He would and needs to look like he can hold his own. He has an almost pathological fear and hatred of dogs which he would wear on his proverbial sleeves. Given any excuse at all Hector will menace and attack any dog.
Enjoy.
