a technique worth trying for these kind of thought loops:
Pat it on the head. Thank it for its contribution. Sometimes that’s all it needs and it stops. Actively denying it just gives it more energy to run around in your head.
I discovered this when I was living in Seattle and having some major suicidal ideation due to seasonal depression, it works surprisingly well to dispel those kinds of thoughts.

that would certainly be FASTER than making a comic strip.
i read or heard ages ago about simply telling intrusive thoughts "NO" as firmly as possible and I do try that when it is simply deeply upsetting and or disgusting and i never THINK it will work but presumably the worst thoughts do go away eventually because some of it i could not live with as things currently go.

I know this feeling all too well. In my case, my brain loves to bring up embarrassing things I've said or done by accident.
Also: Barma Boiplo gets watches because their whining is funny to watch, and Capt. Sparagus draws that one creepy kink that's trendy right now. Screw them.

I tend to fixate on embarrassing things i did years ago foremost while at the toilet. although if i did it recently yes it might factor into this sort of situation. sometimes i only realize that something i did recently (typically over the internet) was embarrassing after i have turned off the computer. occasionally most frustratingly it happens while the computer is turning off and i need to wait for it to finish so i can turn it back on to try and address the mishap in a way that isn't worse.
Brains don't ever seem to shut up: they think that they're too good for that.
Mine talks to me about various responsibilities. The only things that we agree on are food, music, coffee, and sleep. (Eventually, the third option comes around.)
Breaks are wonderful things - take as many as you need to help out through the day.
