86 years ago this month, Marvel got their very first superhero, the Human Torch. DC got Superman, and Marvel got a guy who burst into flames and went on a rampage. Real shocker that metahumans have a bad rep in that universe.

Alex Ross' take on the original human torch is great. You get that feeling of STRANGENESS, of the world now being a different place than the one before this creature existed.

Yeah, Marvels pretty much made that the focal point of the story, you can have all the roll-up-your-sleeves gumption you want, these new guys basically win just by showing up.
