The one on the right makes me thing of a parasite that eat a fish's tongue and attaches to where the appendage was and actually connect to the host's nervous system and basically that on the role in turn.

they are their real noses yeah! they can definetly honk, but idk if they can be detached... theyd probably just stretch like rubber and then snap back when you let go XoP
