MX6428 - Laptop Beast
I woke up the other morning after recent issues with my current laptop thinking that I should create a creature from my laptop's design and inherent issues. Not all of them are depicted here, such as any hardware issues or memory blue-screens, but the most outward distinctions are included. For instance:
The pharyngeal jaws (the black insectoid-looking apparatuses out of the mouth) are indicative of the CD/DVD drive having a habit of opening randomly and refusing to close;
The electric tape on the tail is indicative of the laptop's power cord and the jerry-rigging needed there;
The magenta light on the flank shows that the laptop is charging (again in reference to the power cord issue);
The overall pose indicates fatigue, and thus the fatigue of the laptop (it is over 6 years old now);
The cooling pad sitting on the back is to keep it cool - without it, blue screens are imminent.
The rest of the stuff is normal laptop fare - the ribbed openings display fans, there are USB ports on the tail, and the blue ring on the head is the light around the power button. Also, there is a little external hard drive attached in the tail cords. ;p The blue lights are of course part of the original laptop as well. : )
I imagine the novel's worth of explanation kills the mystique of the image, but I thought people might like to know about the meanings behind all the fiddly bits.
I have to say that I don't think I'll find a prettier laptop, my sweet little Gateway ^^. Even though you haven't kicked the bucket yet, you sure need a lot of tender care.

Reminds me of my shitty old laptop (it's new fault is having to have the power-cord tweaked just right in the socket for it to get mains power). Creature looks like it'll be needing to be euthanaised soon, very sleek looking but yet rather worn out and past it's prime. Great concept!
