Gonna copy+paste my description from tumblr for this one since it's long. Just worldbuilding thoughts for my fantasy setting:
misc CoB doodles wherein I play around with redesigns of existing characters and initial designs of the protags.
for anyone who's new to the blog, Circle of Beasts (CoB) is a homebrew D&D campaign I wrote forever ago. I want to eventually lay it out as a comic, but in order to do that I need to come up with protagonists to replace the player character placeholders. (I also need to strip it of D&D copyrighted stuff, like the pantheon + specific words like 'drow' and 'tiefling'. The setting itself is already original, so no need to change that, at least...
Something I've been thinking about at length and pinning down is that classes have sort of 'identifiers'-- things that visually alert you to what their profession is. Up top are Veloura and Effie, who are priests(though I might change that name to 'channeler' or 'bishop'), who I think would be identified by long robes and/or high, tight collars.
On the bottom are Nimuel and Zeke, who are rogues(dungeoneers?). They'd be identified by their shawls. I like the idea of rogues selling their lock-picking + trap-disabling skills to parties and having to battle the stereotype of being cut-purses and thieves.
Also, I've previously spelled the drow's name Valoura, but I like Veloura (with an e) better. I'll have to go back and fix tags on my previous posts, haha
