Enchantia Screenshots 028 WIP Factions gods
These deities are linked to factions that are still a work in progress (WIP), not fully canonical yet, but they might become so. However, these three deities are 100% canonical; I am just waiting for Frontier to release the appropriate “themes” for them, as well as the opportunity to use those factions. Until then, these three remain “in storage.”
The first goddess is Tapu-Hakilele, the mother goddess of the Triton faction. I have already talked about them when discussing the MerFolks: the Tritons are their “good” counterpart. They are virtuous pirates (or rather, better defined as privateers); they obtain their resources and weapons legally from other factions, either as rewards for completed tasks or by purchasing them. Like the MerFolks, they are divided into clans ruled by a queen. These serpent-like creatures are immortal and very powerful, daughters of Hakilele. Unlike the MerFolk clans, however, the Tritons are friendly with each other, cooperate, and their queens care deeply for one another.
Tapu-Hakilele is the younger, benevolent sister of Mazula. Hakilele is inspired by the Hawaiian islands and Maori and Polynesian mythology. Besides having the appearance of a mermaid, her design is based on a fusion between a tropical island and a mermaid (the modern type, half fish, not the mythologically accurate half-bird ones). She herself is a living island: she has an active volcano on her head and uses lava as hair. She is the patron goddess of the Tritons, goddess of tropical islands, and protector of navigators.
The Tritons are good friends with the Saurians, as they share the underwater habitat. The Saurians help clean the seas with their alien eco-technology, and together they are rivals of the MerFolks.
The Chinese dragon is Miyazaki Loong, an emperor ascended to the divine, now the storm-taming god whose draconic skin looks like jade. His faction is the Loongs, the “Asian” variant of the Draconians: anthropomorphic Chinese dragons inspired by Asian cultures, mainly Japanese. The Loong follow the behavioral patterns of Asian culture, but written from the perspective of a somewhat ignorant Westerner who gathers information from Wikipedia, blending various cultures into one. The basic Loong army is made up entirely of samurai of different classes and types; there are special units such as ninja, shinobi, and Shaolin monks. In modern times, an internal mini-faction was introduced—a Loong clan based in Mongolia.
The Draconians of Western Enchantia are rowdy Vikings—warriors who love battle, mostly barbarians by class, and they enjoy drinking and partying. The Loong, on the other hand (I repeat, always according to the idea of Asia held by a somewhat uninformed Westerner), are a more philosophical and orderly society: they follow rules, have a culture based on honor and respect for higher castes, and observe many behavioral norms.
I chose Miyazaki as the name of the deity because I’m not very knowledgeable about Asian history, and I didn’t want to offend anyone from China or Japan by using the name of an important historical figure beloved by many. Actually, I’m not very convinced by this name myself and I would like to change it. But before doing so, I’d like to get some suggestions in the comments: if there’s any Asian reader or someone more knowledgeable than me on the subject, could you please suggest a better name?
The Loong faction is on hold because I’m not very skilled at designing Asian structures, especially ancient Chinese and Japanese buildings with their classic pagoda roofs. In Planet Coaster 1, there was the “World’s Fair Pack” DLC, themed around “International Cuisine,” which included eight food stalls and themes based on eight different countries, each with their respective buildings and objects. The DLC themes were: USA, Germany, Italy (focused on Venice, of course — for the rest of the world, Italy is all Venice, Pulcinella, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa… and, naturally, the Mafia), Morocco, Spain, Mexico (centered around the Day of the Dead festival), and then there were the China and Japan themes. I’m hoping Frontier will release an update or DLC that introduces an Asian theme or something similar in Planet Coaster 2. Until then, the faction remains on hold.
The third deity is Santa Claus—yes, the one and only. He’s been an Enchantian from the very beginning. Santa is a polar bear, and his faction is the Polarians, a group themed around Christmas festivities. However, while reviewing the images, I noticed a few things that don’t quite convince me. I think I should make him a bit chubbier… and I completely forgot the beard.
Its inhabitants are animals associated with the North Pole and Christmas—so: reindeer, penguins, polar bears, and maybe even seals. The main guards are the reindeer, and their hero is none other than Rudolph himself. For the penguins, I’m thinking of creating penguin-griffins, to keep some consistency with the lore, since the avian inhabitants of Enchantia are the griffins from Phoenix Canyons. Among the Polarians, penguins are small and stubby, which makes them perfect for the role of “Christmas elves.” Oh, and the snowmen are golems—they’re used in battle as a workforce. I still need to find a fitting role for the polar bears.
The Polarians are also currently “on hold,” waiting for the right theme to be added to the game. In Planet Coaster 1, there was a “festive” theme—essentially the Christmas theme—with walls made of gingerbread, marzipan, and candy, along with items like toys, gift boxes, snow, and icicles. This theme was added for free in a holiday update. I’m hoping that this Christmas, Frontier will decide to bring it back in a new update.
Other factions? If Frontier ever releases an adventure-themed DLC like the one in Planet Coaster 1, I was thinking of a parallel faction to the Saurians. In the PlanCo1 Adventure DLC, we got jungle settings, Aztec-style temples, lava, mummies, traps, animatronic archaeologists, and precious gems—it was one of my favorite themes ever. I really miss it. If this theme were to return in the future, I’d like to introduce a faction that’s a darker, more aggressive version of the Saurians—one that chose a scientific path focused on physical modification and genetic manipulation. Their tech would be a kind of plant-based biopunk: step-pyramid-like spaceships floating via thrusters, plasma guns modeled after famous Mayan Quetzalcoatl statues, and so on. The main inspiration? The Lizardmen from Warhammer.
However, if an Egypt-themed Adventure DLC were to be released—as some Planet Coaster community members have suggested—I thought of a different concept: a cult of Saurians devoted to robotics, who heavily modify themselves into cyborgs. Basically, Egyptian anthro-dinosaurs in the style of the Adeptus Mechanicus, with space pyramids and advanced tech driven by cyber-religious beliefs.
In the meantime, I’m already working on a missing faction. As mentioned before, there’s been a long-standing fairytale theme—the classic medieval fantasy style. I hadn’t created anything for it… until now. As I write this, I’m building a themed roller coaster where I’ll place the first characters. The ride itself is already fully built and operational, but I still need to add the various characters, and if there's any space left, I’d like to include a few extra elements. This new faction will be based on medieval chivalric epics, set in a European Middle Ages-inspired world, especially drawing from the Arthurian legends and the British Isles. It will be a parallel faction to the Olympians, made up of anthropomorphized common animals.
With this, I’ve finished sharing everything about the factions of Enchantia and its lore. Of course, I’ll continue to showcase new creations, characters, and lore updates as they come—along with new factions, tied to future game updates. In the coming days, I’ll share something related to the new FairyTale-themed faction and the roller coaster I’ve built for it.
The next major project I’ll be publishing is something completely new, entirely separate from the PlanCo2 universe and the Red Eye Corporation. It’s a project I’ve been working on for years—deleted, rewritten, and reshaped into countless versions. No, it’s not the multiverse mythology that connects all my universes together. It’s something else, centered around the concept of “anomalies.”
