Alfonzo was reading books he got from the school library in Clark's house. By his side was a tarot deck. He noticed Drake enter the room. "Ah, Drake, you're just the person I wanted to see."
"Okay, what do you want?" the human asked.
"I would like to read your future." Alfonzo replied.
"I am afraid to think about the future. What if I end up back at the SSP?" Drake questioned.
"Well, maybe we can find a solution with the cards." Alfonzo said. "Just give it a world."
"Alright then." Drake said.
"All you have to do is shuffle the deck and think about the question you want to ask." the fox said. "It'll be a past present future spread. Drake shuffled the deck as he thought about his question. He handed the deck back to Alfonzo. "Care to tell me your question?" Alfonzo asked.
"My question was if I would end up trapped at the secret space program for good and never see you or your friends again." Drake said.
"I understand your concern." the fox replied. "Let's read the cards now." Alfonzo pulled out a card with a picture of a tower on it. "The tower card represents sudden realization, shock, calamities. You were kidnapped by the SSP and your old life on Earth ended. You found out many truths about life beyond your planet that has changed your perspective forever." He next pulled out a card with eight cups on it. "The eight of cups means you have chosen to leave the SSP behind and pursue a new life on your own. The gains you will receive you will not know until the end." Alfonzo finally pulled out an upside-down card with seven swords on it. "The reversed seven of swords card represents the discovery of someone who has deceived you. On Earth, someone has betrayed you to the SSP. In other words, someone still remembers you but whoever they are is not a friend to you. Once you have unmasked the one who betrayed you, you will set yourself free."
"Can I read your future?" Drake asked.
"Sure, no one has done a tarot reading for me before." Alfonzo shuffled the deck and handed it to Drake. "My question is will I get to meet my soul mate?" Alfonzo blushed. "Sorry for the mundane question."
"It's fine." Drake said. The human pulled out a card with a cloaked figure carrying a lantern. "The Hermit card shows that you spent much time pondering about meanings of life and spent so much time isolated that you have no soulmate." Drake next pulled out the second card. "The present card is the Ace of Cups, which means you are meeting new friends and becoming part of a new community." Drake pulled out the third and final card. "The six of swords means that in the future, you will be in a new environment and you will take your troubles with you. Your soulmate will be helping you deal with your traumas." Drakes said. "In other words, you will not meet your soulmate until you are ready to deal with you psychological conflicts."
"Hmm." Alfonzo mused. "I don't know what that means." He asked Drake, "Have you read a tarot cards before?"
Drake shrugged, "I used to at my old friends parties. It was fun, but none of them were as dark as ours."
Alfonzo said, "Of course, we need to face the dark if we want to evolve as conscious beings." Alfonzo said, "I wonder what my friends' readings will say when I pull a card for each of them?"
