Back in '78 i had a best friend who was also an artist wanting to get into illustration, comics, etc. we collaborated on a bunch of pictures and few comics. This was a post WWIII story where most of Earth is too radioactive so most of the surviving population lives on a fleet of space stations. It's the story of a traveling circus which, unbeknown to it's owner and manager, harbors a rebel group who are planning to destroy the station they have just landed on. The name of the station, and the story : Siberia.
Unfortunately we never finished inking it - i was being a bit too much of a Napoleon and he wanted to work on other art - and we ended-up breaking off our friendship. we did resume our friendship about a year later, collaborated on some painting again, but we never considered resuming work on this. And then he died a few years later from primitive chemotherapy, so the story remains only partially inked.
12 x 17 in Bristol paper
crow quill pens and india ink
The horrible lettering is mine. Using a dip pen, having a hard time staying in the lettering lines, slightly backhanded, stoopid shaped dialogue balloons ... my lettering improved a bit with nylon tipped technical pens ... but still sucks.

A lot of my friend's illustrations have come into print in the last few years - we had a mutual pro horror writer friend and his current publisher have been re-issuing his stories and articles - over ten volumes at this point - which include some of our old illustrations from Twilight Zone magazine, Weird Tales, Midnight Gaffiti, etc.
Because his art is finally in print again after nearly fifty years .... So i thought - maybe it's time to post these pages.
