This was a hard one to draw.
Both the Karkadann and the Sz (which has very little by way of description anyways) have been substituted for each other for millenia. Both from Arabia.
The Karkadann was described as large, either Ox-like or Rhinoceros-like, with a black smooth horn that curved downward, or back depending on the source. It also had three hooves on each leg. Alexander the Greats horse, Bucephalus, was sometimes described as a Karkadann.
The Sz was probably a sub-species of Karkadann, as they are generally described as similar. More often it is described as Ox-like with a horn that curved back and up. No good decriptions of the rest of the creature survive, or haven't been translated yet.
This is part of my "Unicorn Species" Series. Based on descriptions I have available, these are what I think they would look like!
If anyone knows of any I missed, please let me know, but look thru all of them first! Thanks!
