I found out that Ibis (ibisPaint X, my drawing platform) has an “animation” feature, so I thought I’d try my hand at animating for once.
My only previous experience with animation was a 3-frame (unfinished) attack motion for a game I wanted to make long ago. Sure, it ain’t exactly Dreamworks quality, but I’m really proud of myself for finally taking that first step down the animator’s road.
Why’s he sneezing? I was inspired by the five-second kinetiscope film by William K.L. Dickson released in 1894 featuring Thomas Edison’s assistant, Fred Ott, sneezing. Short films like that paved the way for the modern day film-making industry, so it only felt right to start there myself. I uhh definitely didn’t fail to make it look like he was headbanging and changed it to look like a sneeze instead.
