So recently I have decided to help out a group on FA that is centred around the home and family life and other wholesome things.
Creature.Comforts
To I tried my hand at making a fun board game for the kids as well as their parents.
Since Lego started releasing their own board games, which I must say look quite fun, I thought that I would try my hand at it too.
After an hour or two, I came up with this design Treasure Island. Since I gave away most of Lego sets years ago, but held on to a few for the future, I was a little limited in what I could do. Oddly enough there were a lot of yellows.
While board games can be made from a variety of things, I find lego to be an excellent choice as it already has the spacing on each piece and if you want to make something new, they are fairly easy to take apart. And most important of all, they are reusable, unlike most arts and crafts.
Anyways here are the rules for this particular game.
1. The start point is on the grey square (covered by the two player pieces.
2. rolling the dice each player can move 1-6 spaces (space = 1 horizontal movement)
3. first marker: (Switches and Block) landing on the white space means that the player must roll an even number to pass, odd is miss a turn for a max of two turns
4. second marker: (Oasis) landing on the blue block allows the player to roll again
5. Third marker: (Cursed treasure) My precious! miss a turn
6. fourth marker: (cannon) landing on the grey block allows the player to choose who to send back to the starting point if they roll 4-6 if it is 1-3 then the space after the gate
7. fifth marker: (Parrot) landing on the raised red block means that you miss a turn because the parrot called the captain
8. sixth marker: (Water and Spikes) Landing on either of these spaces means that you must go back 3 spaces
9. Finish line depending on how you play it can be either the exact number or a high enough number.
10. The most important rule is to have fun!
