Arya in cosplay, as Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass! Drawn by Darokho! This is definitely my most watched piece of media, I think I've seen the original two seasons nine times by now.
All her plans were proceeding at best speed. The baron of Ormera had predicatbly attacked her after all those hidden provocations. A single pitched battle using her dragons that were not, as she made him believe, occupied elsewhere had put an end to his army - and sadly both he and his heir had died in the fighting.
She would have to prepare a special reward for her assassins who executed both Aryas plans and Aryas rival masterfully.... And then, of course, no one was left to challenge her claim to the title. No one that would be able to make a meaningful case in front of the high chamber court or the emperor personally, at least. Arya made sure of that.
The 'free' city of Valburgh had elected her as the mayoress and thus lost the status in all but name. She didn't even have to have anyone killed for that - a single mind controlling spell on the most reluctant council member and the rest were convinced through lavish gifts and assurances that they'd keep their privileges even when Arya took over their city. Simple. She really didn't know how the other free cities managed to stay free for so long.
And yet... and yet she hasn't even received the title of countess thus far, not to mention duchess! And she will need the latter - at least! - if she wants to be eligible to be chosen for emperorship. Maybe it is time to shake things up a little more and hope that the chaos will veil her movements... she'll have to convene her advisors again, and discuss.
