oohh hehe lovely concept! maybe he gets cursed by something suddenly, but it has no immedeate effect, so he's like "oh well, i guess nothign happened". But then after some days.... when smelling something to check if it's expired, or maybe just sniffing some flowers while walking outdoors, the curse THEN takes effect, making his snoot grow in size suddenly!

I like the "check if something expired" thing. Imagine if he sniffs something like cheese and it stink, and then all of a sudden, his nose becomes as big as it is here, making the stench much stronger to him. It would be so good, especially if we get to see the stench flow into his nostrils the whole time.
