At 12:45 I was told today I am getting promoted to Sergeant today at 14:30. Except I wasn't told by anyone. I asked my 1st Sergeant if it was a rumor for my promotion. In an annoyed and angry voice he says "It's not a rumor "
I call
tell him I want him to pin me today but my promotion is in 1 hour!!!! And he is 1 hour away!!!!
He got permission from his Gunnery Sergeant, broke 14 laws driving to Camp Pendleton, and then made it 5 minutes before my promotion.
I was read my certificate, and Chance removed my Corporal ranks replacing them with Sergeant
Now we are eating Carl's jr and I have a massive head ache from being waking up 3am everyday this week.
But yeah, I finally picked up rank

I was in the Army from 2001-2005. Now I've been in the civilian world working at a large tech company for the past 5 years.
Didn't quite make it to sergeant though, because I kept declining the training they wanted to send me to to become one. And I didn't care. Lol.

You saying I can't pass a school? Did you fair or something? Oh, I am not doing HRST masters course. They is no need for it. Sounds like you are in a non-deployable unit. I don't really have time for that stuff. But if you think schools are hard good luck with your carreer.
You're fucking lost in the sauce dude. HRST; Headquarters Marine Corps Recruiter Selection Team. All second term Sergeants are put onto the list and picked to go recruiting sometime. Once you're on the list, there is no way off of it. And I was an Artilleryman before I got snatched up. Non-deployable my ass.

I'm a 61, I work with grunts. and I would suggest you stay the fuck in. The retirement is gone...if you don't retire now you will never get the option again, also you will most likely never be able to get into the Corps again once before the age of 32 if you wanted too. You should seriously consider the pro's versus the cons. You're already a Sergeant.
If I stay in the corps, I'll die. It's what I do. Yeah, I'm a sergeant. And I am going on 33 years old. I am doing 5 deployments is 7 years and I do not see myself staying in the marine corps becuase the marine corps has nothing else to offer for me except death. You're line of work is different from mine. Sure you'll be fine, not me. Staying in for the money is not the way of the marine corps. Anyone staying in for the money will be miserable for their whole carreer.
Thats the life of a Grunt man. Lat move, do something, just stay the fuck in. It's not the money, it's the entire benefits of retirement. If you really think you're going to die then why the fuck did you join the Marines as a Grunt in the first place? Also, you're not dead yet.

Well then get out and start all over. How much college have you done so far? Have you gotten your Undergrad while in the Marines? You have the Post 9/11 to use, but you also had your Tuition Assistance, did you use that? And if you only like infantry then stay infantry. I'm just saying I am a recruiter and I see this shit. It's not fucking good. The outside world is fucked, atleast in the Corps you have a paycheck and a chance as long as you don't fuck up.
