The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as M31, is the closest large spiral galaxy to the Milky Way, located about 2.5 million light-years away.
It is the largest galaxy in our Local Group, containing roughly one trillion stars, more than twice the number in our galaxy.
Andromeda and the Milky Way are on a collision course and are expected to merge in about 4–5 billion years, forming a giant elliptical galaxy. It is visible to the naked eye from Earth under dark skies, appearing as a faint smudge in the constellation Andromeda.

Hey this is cool! I went for a nightly walk yesterday to test my new monocular (an old one I thrifted 7x50 iirc) Got a nice view of Andromeda, small and smudgy as it is through binoculars :)
Wanted to check the Pleiades as well, but those were to low on a polluted horizon.
Nice photo!
