Rita had always had poor eyesight. Specifically, she suffered from nearsightedness, meaning she couldn't see beyond half a meter. She decided to not only correct her vision but also improve it, using her expertise as a geneticist. Rita believed the best option would be the vision genes inherited from the golden eagle. And after a month of painstaking work, she had developed a working mutagen that would eliminate her need for glasses.

So... The mutagen actually worked!

But it worked not just on her eyes, but on her entire body... So Rita began to transform into an eagle-like mutant. Well at least she wouldn't have to worry about her vision for the next 13 hours.
