I think it's the proud tradition of every Starfleet officer to have some artistic or creative hobby to participate in with your shipmates, and while I never learned how to play the cello I'm sure Tigsten was allowed the opportunity to learn how to do so and do it quite well while he's exploring the galaxy and discovering all sorts of new medicines and biology :3 Love this art!

I heard from one of my former English teacher whose daughter studied at the med school at Harvard that it appeared that the admission officers values art skills of medical candidates to some extend,because they believe that practicing medicine is also a form of art.
