A commission of Kation, a character with tabbycat/bobcat influences.
It was a wonderful opportunity to take it back to basics, to give the character calmness and serenity. I'm quite proud of the foreground stream there, I was hesitant to try something so detailed but I stuck it out to the final.

Absolutely beautiful. Even background objects like those birds look fantastic. There is so much to love here. Everything is so well done and the detail is almost photo like in certain parts and in others it is like a surreal fantasy. As you can tell by this description I love this piece, and that character is very fascinating.
Don't mind me, I'll just be over here staring adoringly at your art. You have a very expressive style and you manage to provide an amazing wealth of detail without getting bogged down in it. The background in this picture is fascinating. There's a real sense of depth to it, and the golden haze perfectly mimics that time of evening when the sun hasn't quite gone down far enough to count as "setting" and the light goes all buttery.
It's a lovely piece.
The only thing I see wrong with it is the large muscle in the forearm. There should be no singular large muscle there. The forearm is entirely made of thinner, more "ropy" muscles that control the wrists and fingers, and even when well developed, they don't form a large mass. The way it is drawn here, it looks kinda like a misplaced bicep.
