Rose Berends, granddaughter of WW2 Luftwaffe and later WW2 USAAC veteran Sarah Berends is a Captain with the Earth Volunteer Group on planet Terra fighting against the Viragonians to help the Terran Republic as part of their Terran Freedom Air Force. She pilots a Arumon-Condorcet Cosmohawk II YF-400B painted similarly to her grandmother's Heinkel He-162 after it was repainted to United States Army Air Corps standards after her defection from the Luftwaffe with the majority of her all-female squadron during World War 2. The rest of Rose Berends' squadron's Cosmohawk IIs are painted the same way.
