Nestly: I dooo!
It's so much fun collecting the cards. I also love to build decks and battle people at Pokemon League. (Yeah, I know, I'm too old to be this much of a dork, right? lol, oh well)
It's a super fun hobby and I love being competitive about it and trading for cards I can use in my decks.
Right now my strongest deck consists of Reshiram and some other fire Pokemon.
There. Now you know how big my dorkness level reaches to. :)

Nestly: Well whooo! Nice to finally meet someone online who also currently plays! And it is nice. Although most of the people aside from personal friends are kids at the league I go to. Most of the kids are really sweet and pretty mature. So it's all good!
My boyfriend plays a Serpirior/Shaymin deck and it's not bad. He's actually beaten my crazy Reshi/boar/typhlosian deck once or twice even. But yeah, fire is definitely dominate right now. Fire and electric due to the two legendaries.
Although water might come back soon as Beartic is released! [link]

Oh wow! Beartic is gonna be a troll!
Personally, I can't wait for THIS guy! He's always been one of my favorites from BW period, so I've been looking forward to having him in a deck! I wish Haxorus was a little better so I could use him too. I'm thinking Hydreigon and Druddigon with some Absol Prime and Honchkrow/Mandibuzz support. You'll get 10 damage on the bench from Absol's ability, 40 damage from Hydreigon's attack, can't retreat with Druddigon, and Honch/Mandi can Bench snipe for 50 a pop!
Pre-Rotation I was running an AMAZING black deck, but all the trainers/supporters were from Platinum.

Nestly: Oh wow I have NOT seen that card yet! I really need to go through and read over all these soon-to-be released cards, especially before the pre-release. That certainly does have some potential. The ability to throw it in any deck is awesome since any energy attached is dark. Coolio.
Somehow that needs to be paired with Zoroark + pluspower to take care of Reshiram/Zekrom. Man dark is gonna dominate.. black is back, haha.

Black was back in Undaunted! The Honchkrow and Houndoom released in that set were Overtroll (IMO, I ran them well) paired with T-Tar Prime and Absol Prime, black is really a terrible, damage dealing force. The only problem is that until Undaunted, Black energies were hella hard to get. There weren't many good darks in Platinum, and that's really what most were running until rotation. You'll see more of black now I think though. I know that T-Tar and Manibuzz is a deck they're seeing a lot of now, competitively. Also, the Umbreon from Undaunted is getting up into that 'must have' tier because of it's killer immunity to pretty much everything.
And I /love/ Zoroark. I'm running it in my Grass deck atm just because of how ridiculously awesome it is as a counter for /everything/

Nestly: I started playing again when Undaunted had been out for a while. Yeah the Umbreon was crazy because of Moonlight Fang, and all the powerful Primes having abilities, but the release of Black and White kinda screwed that strategy. And me and a few other friends all tried playing variants of hounchcrow, and houndoom, (Houndoom prime, and the promo.) among other darks, and it was never really that great of a fit.. I dunno.
I've always wanted to use Tyranitar prime but it's so hard to get a hold of.
And I've never been sure of how people are suppose to use Absol prime without doing the lost zone strategy.

Well when I played Honch/Houndoom I had 4 of the regular Houndoom, 1 Honchkrow from Supreme Victors, 2 with 'Vengeance' from UD, and 1 with Whirlwind. I also had 3 Sableye (two Stormfront, one Undaunted) and Umbreon, and that was about it.
Sableye would set you up. I always played lots of Sage's Training to get 'mons I didn't need into the discard. Usually I'd set up Honchkrow SV first, who's attack does 30+ 10 for every unevolved Pokemon in play. If you can fill your own bench, that's 80 right there! Plus it's PokePower let you bring back an opponent's basic Pokemon from the discard. I hit as high as 160 with it before (darkness energey/plus power/expert belt) and it was just my opener. If someone managed to down that 'Krow, I'd use a Houndoom, usually a belted one and I'd rip them apart with 70 damage and btw discard a card every turn. If you layer that on with Team Rocket's Trickery you can devastate a hand and cause some decks to grind to a halt (I stopped a Luxchomp in its tracks once because I set up first and he could never draw). When they go down it's time for my heavy hitter, the 'Vengeancekrow'. It's attack is 10+ 10 for every dark type Pokemon in your discard. Considering I have roughly 25 Pokemon in my deck, we're talking a possible, unmodded, 260 damage every turn.
This deck wasn't the worst I ever played, but before half of it rotated, people did get a migraine from it. And that's what I enjoy doing, building what pros call 'trash' decks and making them work. For the past three pre-releases I ended up playing with the deck I made there! The HounchDoom, and my YanmegaBell (which ripped VileGar a new one!) were both hastily thrown together pre-release decks that were minimally modified. And I love that feeling when I take down a pro-tier deck with one, because it's so much more meaningful that way then playing with a 'standard' deck. At least, that's what I think. But to each their own.
And people are using Absol now more for it's ability.

As long as Absol is your Active Pokémon, whenever your opponent plays a Basic Pokémon card, place 2 damage counters on that Pokémon.
Combine that with Honchkrow or Mandibuzz's Blindside, and you can snipe their bench for 50 damage. Nothing to sneeze at for sure. Which, with Hydreigon's 'Dangerous Sword' to compliment that, it's going to be a deadly!
And on a side note, I'm trying to sell my T-Tar prime deck. It's Meganium Prime/T-Tar Prime which... has mixed usability. It really just depends on your opponent, but it's PRO at beating down steel-type decks, however infrequent they are. I might disassemble it and just make a new grass deck and sell off the T-Tars. They're fun, but it takes sooooo much more effort to set up than something like Houndoom or Yanmega |D

And lol, just curious..I have a crudload of rare/holo/reverse holo cards I've been looking to sell (as well as an uncountable amount of commons XD)...are you perhaps interested in buying specific cards? XD If you're not I understand, and I apologize if I seem weird or something lol.

Aaha, okay, cool! XD
Well, let's see...it's take me a lonnnng time to take pics of everything I have, haha ^^; As for recent, how recent do they have to be to be played? (I never followed that lol o.o; ). And feel free to list some of your faves and I can tell you what I have of them, if you'd like :3

Nestly: Legal cards right now are the new Black and White cards, and anything from the Heartgold Soulsilver series, which includes, Undaunted, Unleashed, and Call of Legends. Basically if it's been over a year or so since you've gotten cards, nothing you have is probably legal.
I do collect some of my favorites. Usually just holos. ANYTHING Jirachi, (Although I have almost every Jirachi card now) Anything from the Luxray line, Dunsparce, Wishcash, lanturn, chinchou, haunter. Those are some of my favs.

Ah crud, none of mine are legal then XD The most recent I have is Diamond and Pearl >.<
I don't have any Jirachis unfortunately, but I do have a few from the others! I have these guys:

These are all mint, by the way ;3 And I have a few common/uncommons of a lot of those, too, but I'm not sure if you'd be interested in those at all XD

I think that the saying, "Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional," to be quite true! Nothing wrong with liking the cards! I still own mine, myself! I never played the game but I enjoyed collecting the cards for the longest time, and could never bring myself to sell them.
This is so cute, too!
