"Arctic winds relentlessly buffet the speeding dracthyr's form. However, a break in the icy assault would be relished as Lucarian spins about, unfurling wings that scantily mar the light of a dozing sun. Amidst violet and blue skies, pinpoints of azure flame spark from the draconic being's hands. A creeping like distant pitons running through ice echoes in the back of Lucarian's throat. What cold magic the evoker will wrought will surely be terrible."
My first full painting in a long while ever since making the Mechanical Dragon for a client a year or two back! I learned new techniques for the spell effects and for the lighting, such as the attempt of subsurface scattering, which is demonstrated in the light piercing through solid matter (the wing membrane).
While I can't sell this as a print, as much as I'd really love to because I'm pretty happy with it, it does inspire me to make another painting in a similar lighting in the future. I've got ideas of like... a green-scaled zigzag serpent twisting through the air chasing after a little yellow birb. What do you think?
