Fish of a Roguishly Elegant, Nautical sort [By: jackalart]
Another from jackalart! One of my priorities to commission when I had Faen redesigned, for just this fishy sleekness and hide detailing. Just as with This Post Here, he had such accuracy to how I want to present Faen as this "ever-composed reptilian individual, cool and calculating - but! casually cool... ooh..." and all that xD
Something Jack accomplished most handily! One difference from this commission and my first is how Faen is significantly more expressive here. Only a confident and small subtle toothy grin at the side of the muzzle - whatever is going on, he feels comfortable enough to reveal his disposition to such a dramatic level than usual, egads I am gasping. This also displays how as restrained and reserved as he is, there is a definite vein of arrogance dwelling inside him. He manages to keep it tempered well enough with sheer cold logic, but... well, that rigid self-control can crack a bit and let some emotions through. Note as well, how his back is kept rigidly straight in its eminent posture, but his lean arms hang loosely at his sides even as his long tail lazily curls around: that subtlety of "casual composure" is something I specifically requested from Jack and is one of my favorite aspects of the piece! Aaaahhhhh...
And as a closing word, the texture of that fishy hide as I mentioned earlier, can't get enough of it <3. As well as, his redesigned color palette and patterns! Ooooh, those stripes and gradients all over his tail, the smooth and splayed out style to his hands and feet, and the independently designed outfit here being so reminiscent of [insert vague medieval style here], it all just comes together! As well as how the scenery and looseness of the clothing, the motion captured within manage to make the scene alive. Very quality. Gahhhh.
