Here is a semi-continuation to This Post Here, also from Keko! Showing another facet to Kai's personality, someone who deals with the harsher side of life and civilization on the daily - he's got an irrepressible spirit of either boldness or perseverance, but the life he leads tends to drag away at him over time. No fancy cigar for this piece, just the nearest roll he can get his claws on (his biology affords him some allowances with smoke, it's fiiiiineeeee). It also displays his contemplative side! Although his Tobi-like nature tends to lead him headfirst into the next situation and from place to place, he is an extremely thoughtful individual. He considers his own life, his current or next cases as a private investigator, the city he lives in as a whole, and friends or foes both. He has to make use of his wiles for survival regularly, after all!
Keko surpassed my expectations for this piece, I enjoy the level of depth and color hues this one has to offer so much! It feels a bit more complex and dynamic to me than my first commission, a real testament to the benefit of working with an artist again C: could not be happier with that depth, or the quality effort put into details like, that subtle scale sheen on his neck or wrist, the lighting across his nose and tousled hair strands, or that comfortable flannel jacket! Seeing them take that time to get that pattern just right, or the folds and creases therein was a pleasure. And as always, Keko's characteristic style shines through through the eyes or the little highlights across clothing or scales both. A favorite piece of mine for a non-Faen character for once, heck yeah!
Oh, right! The post's name. That's where one of the inspirations of this character comes from, and specifically what he is reminiscing on in this piece. Bit of a lore tidbit, eheh.
