After a grueling four hour surgery, and us humans pulling an all nighter to move the unhurt horses closer to the house to prevent the bear attacking them again, we crashed.
Two days after the attack, I went in to visit with Wildfire. She was standing, and eating. It seemed like a miracle.

The Fish and Wildlife department had actually been after this bear for almost a week before it got my horses...we weren't aware that there was a rogue bear, otherwise our horses never would have been left where they were at, at the time of the attack.
They set up traps, and they did eventually trap and kill it. It was a bear on its third strike, having been relocated three times total in its life.
