Some of you know that 12 days ago, my horses were attacked by a bear. Brandy and Little Sister came away unscathed, but Wildfire was badly injured.
We rushed her into the vet, and she was immediately taken into surgery. Her prognonis for survival was very poor.

It's a foal, thus making it an easier target. Unfortunately in this situation, a bear, or any large predatory animal, won't pass up such an opportunity.
Typically if a predator is injured or has gone without a meal for a while, they will target "out of the norm" prey. This is what usually results in attacks on humans.
