The baru-baru is native to the snowy Seld. While many roam free through the mountainous areas, they are also raised for use as pack animals and a source of food. Here, we see one also being used as a pillow.

I imagine there would be multiple breeds of baru-baru, such as ones raised for meat, ones raised for carrying burdens, perhaps even one or two raised for their milk. Perhaps even miniature ones raised as indoor/outdoor pets!
