Transform and roll out: Tripwire
One of the bonus pages for i.s.o. involved a quick throwaway gag of a toy robot Jeff that transformed into his modded Corvette.
It was just a last-minue idea, but I did make an effort of giving it a realistic transformation sequence, [geek] slightly based on Targetmaster PointBlank [/geek].
At any rate,
Tremorwolf and I went to Botcon in June, and we saw the Dark of the Moon movie a couple weeks back. I'm still not thrilled by what Michael Bay did to the franchise, but it at least got the toys on my mind again.
I've been meaning to see just how much I can do with this tablet, so I attempted to re-draw Jeff here completely digitally. I actually grew up drawing nothing but vehicles, and it wasn't til middle school that I even tried drawing anything organic, so unlike a lot of furs, drawing cars is second nature to me. And in theory the coloration should be smoother than I could do with markers.
I'm not entirely sure I like the results. I do not have the tablet lines sharp enough to make a clean robotic figure, especially one with a sleek car mode. I am not interested in doing realistic coloring job (yet) so I did a quick metallic rendering reminiscient of the original comics. So it was a fun exercise, but I may leave the idea to being done in real media =X
In keeping with the usual naming conventions, I've dubbed this guy Tripwire (updated...and it's not been used before!). FWIW, the very back of the car turns into a toolbox for him, and that's not a laser, that's a grease gun. The green color was mainly to match Jeff's coveralls, but it also reminded me of Hoist (for those of you who care ;-P), so it seems appropriate. And it was kind of fun trying to keep his toes slightly hoof-shaped using the Corvette rear window.

Both of your transformer-esque characters look pretty cool.
Though to be fair, Jeff's car version looks so much smoother and car-like, whill cody's looks a tad blocky, but it's understandable, trucks are more complicated in my opinion.
I still find it surprising you can get so much detail, using markers for coloring.

Once again, glad to remember we are both Transformers fans. G1 all the way! *sheds a tear for Optimus and Ironhide, who was always his favorite*
Having the back of the car become his toolbox, and the rear window becoming hooves, was brilliant. You really do show your creativity and love of the franchise here. Also, hah, grease gun!
This really is awesome, Vince. And if the way you drew cars in ISO hadn't shown me, this would definitely reveal your talents and interests.
Good to see you back BTW!

*chuckles* That's awesome! Hows about a month and a half? hehe
It was? Oh... the thumbnail XD I thought that's just a symbol for the art being related to transformers... and not exactly being an autobot (since the symbol for good guys almost always represent XD) He is... gonna be part of the constructicons XD LOL

A Tow Truck would be a nice rendition of the would be general maintenance guy. =3 And as far as I know... I don't believe I saw a tow truck in TF even before...
Correct me if I am wrong.... Ratchet became an Ambulance just to have the analogy of him giving "medical" care to his fellow Autobots.
And yes, Beast Wars RAWKS!!! *grins* Noted =3

*smacks self* I forgot: While it's true that Ratchet was and remains the Autobots' medical mechanic, Wheeljack was the original G1 "Mister Fix-it" in terms of equipment, as well as their chief inventor.
He was a sports car, though, which really has nothing to do with technological engineering capability.

True... Wheeljack is the "fix it" guy and the inventor of sorts... though won't that make him the "engineer" of the group? Hehe... Whatever happened to him? I don't see him anymore.
Hehe... agreed! I don't see him as an engineer type when he is in vehicle/camouflage mode LOL. *chuckles*

Slick-looking, both in transformed mode, and out. :3
So, toolbox and grease gun? That makes this guy a mechanic... right? Which, considering transformers are mechanical, kinda makes this guy the equivalent of a surgeon amongst his people... right?
MAN, this guy must be pulling all SORTS of tail... pipe. xD
