Meine gefesselten Lieblingsratten 1. Nicodemus
Here we go with a list of my favourite rat characters in bondage. First one is Nicodemus from Don Bluth´s animated movie "The secret of NIMH"
Fun fact: Nicodemus was the first inspiration for Eternal´s design.
I first saw this movie with 5 or 6 years. I was very afraid at some scenes, especially the flashback on how the rats were transformed in the labs with those injections, that made them clever and gave them magical powers.
When I was 12, I saw the movie again and then i was fascinated by the darker tone of the movie, that was unlike the Disney style, that I was used to.

Huzzah we have finally got to rats! Onw my favourite animals because of their perfect snoot^^
I can wholly imagine that The Secret of NIMH was influential movie for you! I didn't get to see it before much later. It's such a great one and I love Nicodemus design.
You did a great job here, I look very much forward to see the rest =D since there SO many great choices^^

Awwwww, poor Nicodemus! An old rat like him needs to bundled up with blankets and fed warm soup. x3
Really, though? Nicodemus was the first inspiration for Eternal's design? How interesting! :D
But yeah, that movie scared the crap out of me when I was little. Don Bluth films were ruthless towards younger me... heck, even today I can't really watch them without feeling uncomfortable. XD

I agree. Nicodemus might be a mighty wizard, but he still looks so vulnerable, that one has the wish to protect him.
Indeed.
Honestly: Although those movies scared me a little, I still respect Don Bluth for his films. I love them all now and it is sad, that there are no such films produced any more.

Yes, which makes it even sadder that he died. But at least he got to return as a kind of ghost and help Mrs. Brisby in the end.
And yeah, that's pretty much everybody's views on Bluth's films. They shamelessly demonstrated to kids just how scary and dangerous the world can be. Maybe someday, with the rise of independent film studios, a similar kind of movie will be made again.

Most characters from various franchise, who are my favourites, tend to end up being killed, or at least they have to suffer very much.
It is as if I would have a natural sense to find out the "poor sod" kind of characters to like...T_T
Don Bluth´s movies were dark at times, but they still had a comforting undertone at the end. So as if they would try to tell us: The world might be dark, but there are still some islands of light and comfort out there.
On the other hand, animated movies like Watership Down and Black Dogs of Death paint a really dark picture of how harsh life can be...

I remember the scene, where Mrs. Brisby was led to the door of Nicodemus by Mr. Ages. The moment, she tried to open the dorr, it opened with magic and there was a wave of magic shooting out with creepy noises. But at the moment she entered the throneroom of Nicodemus, the mood of the scenario changes, it still appeared dark and a little gloomy, but the subtle soundtrack in the background was comforting, so as if we were in a place of wonder, a place that appeared dark and hostile from outwards, but friendly and warm inside. That was my deepest impression from this scene and such I created Eternal´s aura and the place, where he dwells. Dark, but not frightening.
I assure you, I do not treat my captives bad at all. For nicodemus I used a soft rope, bound his wrists together in a way that has not hurt him, but prevented him from breaking free. I also sealed his magic. And the gag left him with enough room to breath.
