I knows that But in USA a fry is a fry no matter the shape
chips are sliced & fried potato slices While crisps are made of dried potato flakes & put into a chip mold hehe

I know, I was just teasing. :P They are called fries here if they are the thinner style to be honest, and like you say, what you call chips we call crisps... Just to be difficult. Just like the Jam/Jelly/Jello confusion too.... What you call Jelly we call Jam and what you call Jello we call Jelly. :P
