A play on Bateman's "Shadow of the Rainforest," here is Ash perched up in the canopy of the Niyotael. This was one of my better from-scratch digi-paintings at the time.

Wow, once again amazed you haven’t received any comments on this (:P it even has a female feline in it that’s just wrong). I really like this picture, mixes a kind of dark and natural feel together. Jungles always strike me as a kind of sinister place, since its one of the only places on earth that is covered in shadows in broad day; allowing stealth and trickery 24/7. The plants are nicely done but I really like the effect of the light shining through and how it even show up on the trees and you could easily imagine it slowly moving up and down the bark if it wasn’t frozen in time. Also like the way the background is blurred as it kind of gives a more dark and hidden feeling to everything and doesn’t give anything to distract from the main focus of the picture. Finally the feline herself is nicely done. I’m a sucker for black cats and the yellow eyes give her a dangerous appearance. Her trail hanging down from the tree well blended is also an interesting addition since it kind of adds to the idea that she’s hidden, since its barely noticeable among the vines and branches (I actually didn’t notice it until about halfway through writing this comment). Very nice picture.
Heheh wow a copy of the original by Bateman’s going for nearly 2k on ebay. I actually like some of the effects on your version better, but you know how it goes: you have to have it painted on a canvas and have a famous name before you can sell any of your art for that kind of money :P. One thing I like about art on the net, there is tons of great work in the art community that most people will never see just because the artist isn’t famous enough to be publicly appreciated.
