i gotta hurry to sleep but their lore is that they were in the loyal knights' group but had to retire after they got an infection
that infection was parasitic crystals that spread through their veins, slowly cutting off oxygen from the cells in their body till they died
after they died, the crystals began to grow, breaking through skin and reanimating them
now they are cursed to roam the world till the crystals lose their glow only then they can peacefully rest
