I live in the Pacific Northwest, USA. It rains a lot here, and we are famous for our banana slugs, among other moisture-loving critters. This is not a banana slug. It is a taildropper slug. Some lizards will drop off their tails when danger looms, hoping the predator behind them will be satisfied or distracted with just a piece. These taildropper slugs do the same thing, many times in an effort to get away from our carnivorous snails. Note: This is a slug, not a snail. I listed snail as the species because FA does not have a category for slugs.
